China'S Clothing Export Growth

French textile daily reported recently that China's clothing exports increased significantly by 8.2% in the first quarter to 17 billion 500 million euros as the world economy gradually stabilized and picked up in January.

According to the French research department, China's garment export performance in the first quarter of this year was better than that in 2009 (15 billion 800 million euros) and 2008 (16 billion 700 million euros), which first grew from 20.4% in the US market, and 17% in China's clothing exports to the US. Secondly, the consumer market resumed its activity from the end of 2009, and the preferential purchase of the cheapest imported products became the consumer's psychology.


The report said that on the contrary, China's clothing exports to Japan fell by 8.9% in the first quarter of this year, while clothing products from China's main European countries generally increased, such as Germany +5.9%, British +4.9%, Spain +2.9% and France +2.9%.


According to the report, French researchers believe that despite the fact that clothing dealers focus on China, the French consumer market is still weak and the recovery base is still fragile. Therefore, China's export to France can not continue to grow.

In addition, the rising cost of textile raw materials, the rising cost of manpower, the shortage of labor force, the depreciation of the euro, the pegging of China's foreign exchange settlement to the US dollar, and the possible appreciation of the renminbi will have an impact on the export of Chinese clothing.
