Japan Intends To Expand Textile Residue Fiber Industry

It is reported that the industry standard of textile residues harmful substances launched by the Japanese fiber industry alliance has already completed the preparatory work, and has been put into the implementation stage. It is expected to be officially announced in the middle of this year and will be formally implemented in January 2011.

The standard is mainly directed against carcinogenic aromatic amines residues in textiles. These aromatic amines are mainly derived from some azo dyes. At present, more than 30 countries and regions such as the EU have developed relevant standards, and 25 azo dyes are clearly prohibited.

Japan is one of the major exporters of textiles and clothing in China. The implementation of the new standard will have a direct impact on our textile and garment exports.

In this regard, the inspection and Quarantine Department reminded the relevant export enterprises to attach great importance to taking measures as soon as possible to stop the use of banned azo dyes and maintain the good reputation of Chinese products in the Japanese market.
