The economy is getting warmer.

Labor shortage

But it appears again.

"No orders were made last year, but many orders this year, but not enough workers."

At the 108th session of the Canton Fair, the exhibitors poured out their grievances to reporters: "finding employees is even harder than finding customers." it is understood that the problem of labor shortage erupted in the Pearl River Delta has returned to the Yangtze River Delta.

Labor shortage hit the country

"Lack of work" phenomenon

Pearl River Delta

It has been relieved and has begun to grow seriously this year. "

"A lot of orders have been arrived at the Canton Fair, but we dare not answer it," the head of a toy company in Foshan who told OEM, a well-known toy factory in the United States, told reporters.

Mei Meng, executive vice president of toy industry association of Jiangsu Federation of industry and commerce, also told reporters the same worries.

He said that the problem of labor shortage was prominent in the Pearl River Delta. This year, the shortage of workers "attacked" the Yangtze River Delta. The delivery time of many members of the association had to be delayed from 1 months to 45 days, until now it is 4 months before delivery.

In fact, the problem of enterprise employment has become a headache for enterprises all over the country.

Fujian Putian City Government Secretary General told reporters that as a Chinese footwear export base, many shoe manufacturers in Putian now do not invite people.

"Footwear production is still a labor-intensive industry. Labor shortage is particularly prominent. The average production capacity of the industry is less than 70%.

This not only causes waste of resources, but also often causes orders to fail to be completed on time, which is liable for breach of contract and has lost huge amounts of air freight charges. "

Serious shortage

According to the annual survey of talent shortage in Wanbao Shenghua, Chinese mainland enterprises are facing a shortage of talents from production operators to management / senior managers, and the shortage is more severe than in recent years.

In January this year, Wanbao Shenghua conducted a survey of talent shortages among 3.5 000 enterprises in 36 countries and regions in the world, including 1384 Chinese mainland enterprises.

According to the survey, 40% of employers in mainland China are trying to fill job vacancies, 25 percentage points higher than in 2009.

"Because there is a mismatch between the skills possessed by job seekers and the skills required by enterprises, it is difficult for enterprises to find professional talents with specific skills that they need, which results in a relative shortage of talent in the oversupply of talent market."

Yuan Jianhua, managing director of Wanbao Shenghua (China) said.

According to the survey, the most difficult positions for employers are production operators, technicians, management / senior managers.

Among them, the production operator, who ranked first in the shortage of talent in 2006, once again exceeded management as the most scarce talent, while technical personnel, management / Senior Management remained the top three.

"Skilled workers, skilled workers and professional and technical management personnel are in short supply, which makes it difficult for enterprises to carry out independent innovation."

Fujian Putian City Government Secretary General pointed out to reporters.

Transformation and upgrading is the best policy.

Many people believe that one of the major reasons for the shortage of labor is the low wages of enterprises.

However, this answer has been denied by many executives.

Deng Junsheng, the head of Miller treasure Toys Co., Ltd., Guangdong, told reporters: "last year we still opened 1500 yuan per month for food and accommodation. This year, it has opened to 2000 yuan to eat and lodge, but still can not recruit people."

He told reporters that making toys is mostly manual work, which is very hard.

In addition, the owner of two furniture enterprises in Guangdong also revealed to reporters that labor costs have risen by 30% this year, and still can not recruit workers.

Jiang Lin, director of the Department of Finance and taxation of Zhongshan University, believes that China's labor supply is still abundant in general, but the problem of labor shortage is mainly caused by structural imbalance.

"The original stock workers began to run away. At the same time, many enterprises in the interior of the mainland have received industrial pfer from coastal areas. Many workers can also find jobs at home. Moreover, the cost of living in the two or three tier cities in the mainland is lower than that in the first tier cities, which makes the amount of labor force in the coastal areas unsatisfactory."

Jiang Lin believes that only industrial pformation and upgrading is the only way out.

Jiang Lin said that to change this structural imbalance, enterprises must be pformed from labor-intensive to technology intensive, and should break through from internal and external imbalance. This is also the reason why foreign trade enterprises should take the road of domestic sales.
