"At that time, my wife and I went to work in a factory, earning only 300 yuan per person per month. There was no money for marriage and no new house."

At that time, Shen Qikun worked part-time as a tutor. One of his students happened to be in the clothing business.

With this opportunity, Shen Qikun went to work and followed the student's parents to learn how to do the clothing business.


In 1997, an anonymous clothing store with an area of only 10 square meters opened on the way to the city. It was the first step for Shen Qikun to start his own business.

So, in 2000, despite his family's opposition, Shen Qikun resigned resolutely and went to the clothing business. He also named the shop "Kai Kun dress" with his own name.

In 2011, Shen Qikun opened 3 stores for ladies' wear in succession, and walked at the same time.

Shen Qikun believes that clothing for the elderly will have great potential for branding in the future.

"Not only do the middle-aged and the elderly continue to improve their taste in clothes, but the younger generation also pays special attention to quality when they help their elders buy clothes.

So my goal is to create such an effect in Huaian: just buy clothes for daddy, Mommy or other elders, and immediately think of Kai Kun.

To this end, Shen Qikun has been taking the "branding" route.


Due to the larger age span and the different aesthetic standards of the middle-aged and elderly customers, the three brands of clothing for the middle-aged and the elderly under "Kai Kun dress" are different for customers of different ages.

"A single brand has fewer choices, and brand diversification can make up for this."

In the future, Shen Qikun's biggest dream is to set up his own clothing company.


"Small profits but quick turnover, to be honest with others" is Shen Qikun's philosophy of management for many years.

He believes that business must consider long-term gains, not just the immediate interests.

"The competition in the clothing market is fierce now, and the backlog of commodities is inevitable. However, taking the high price strategy blindly is not a long way to go.

Shen Qikun warned young people who want to start a business: they must have dreams, be diligent, and be persistent.

"Even if a college student goes to sell vegetables after graduation, there is no shame.
