The International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its forecast of global economic growth in October (2019). In 2019, it dropped from 3.2% to 3%, and from 3.5% to 3.4% in 2020, mainly due to the slump in manufacturing and business, as well as the conflict between the US and China.

IMF also sharply lowered the economic growth rate of Latin America in the 2 years to 0.6% years, from 0.6% in 2019 to 0.2% in 2020, and dropped sharply from 2.3% to 1.8% in 2020, mainly due to the slowdown in economic growth in Mexico and Brazil, and the serious economic crisis in Venezuela and Venezuela.
