Film Review Sand Dune: The Mysterious Opening Of Space Epic

This summer's most popular blockbuster is the sand dune. It's no exaggeration to describe it with the words "people's expectation". After all, this grand science fiction series created by Frank Herbert, an American science fiction writer, not only became the first work to win the Hugo prize and the nebula award at the same time, but also was honored as the top of "the best science fiction novel of the 20th century". It sold well all over the world and created tens of millions of sales records. European and American film and television circles have long been covetous of this series, including David Lynch, alexandro zodorovsky and other famous directors have been ambitious to film and television it. However, the vast world of "sand dune universe" and the complicated character setting make it difficult to shoot. David Lynch finally gave a poor answer, while zodulowski retreated, even though he had more crazy ideas, he still stopped in front of the project. Now, the task of turning sand dunes into a movie is in the hands of Canadian Denise Villeneuve. The premiere of Venice Film Festival in September was the first public review of sand dune, and the film finally revealed its mysterious veil. To be sure, Villeneuve's answer sheet was pretty well written. After all, it is not easy to condense the original work and present it effectively.

The story of sand dune revolves around a planet called erasco in 10191 A.D. This is a time when technology is highly developed and interstellar travel is easy. Because of its vital spice resources, erasco is constantly invaded and controlled by other powers. The protagonist of the story, Paul, as the son of the Duke of etradi, and the whole family moved to the endless desert of erasco to take over the spice mining and business here. However, he was attacked by his enemy, the haknam family, and was killed. Paul and his mother had no choice but to run away. On the way, they met the Flemings of erasco, who would take young Paul to see the real desert

The narrative core of sand dune is not complicated in fact. It is a science fiction version of "Prince's Revenge", and it is also the personal growth path of Paul, the so-called "son of heaven". As early as in "border killers", Villeneuve showed his excellent scene scheduling ability through a series of drug raids on the border between the United States and Mexico. Since then, the two films "fall" and "blade killer 2049" have made him more proficient in science fiction through repeated "practice". The style of the sand dune is grand and romantic. It is rough and mottled. It seems that some old spaceships shuttle on the screen. It seems that they are sailing ships sailing towards the unknown continent in the era of great navigation. The characters also have the color of classical aesthetics. Although they use the most sophisticated technology, they try their best to get closer to the original in clothing and props. Although the battle scenes are sometimes accompanied by blasting and laser, but more of them are knife edge close combat, fist to flesh. Finally, we have to mention the strange feeling brought by the unique geographical environment of the desert. George Miller once showed us this kind of wildness that humans can only experience in the sand land, and now Villeneuve has once again contributed to the ultimate audio-visual experience in the arid hinterland of the desert.
