Sales Of Clothing Chains In The United States Dropped Sharply In March.

In March, retail sales of clothing chains in the United States dropped sharply.

For example, the comparable sales of Gap stores decreased by 18%, reflecting the cooling of consumer spending, rising prices of food and gasoline, and falling housing prices.

The sale of high priced clothing has been the biggest hit, and usually the recession in the US economy will affect clothing.

In March, sales of clothing chains in the United States dropped sharply, reflecting the cooling down of US consumer spending.

By contrast, Gap can be reduced by 18% compared with that of shopping malls. Shopping malls at least one year are comparable to shopping malls.

Such a large decrease may partly explain the difficulties encountered by the group during this period.

However, at present, housing prices in the United States have declined, and food and gasoline prices have risen, which has created tremendous pressure on consumer spending.

Cold weather

Usually, when unemployment and price rises occur, clothing sales will be subject to major shocks. Consumers will first consider purchasing food and other goods that can not wait.

Not surprisingly, in March, consumers turned to low-priced products, and WAL-MART's retail sales increased by 0.7%. On the contrary, sales of some clothing chains dropped sharply.

J.C. Penney lost 12.3% of its sales in March.

In addition to the economic downturn, earlier Easter retail sales also declined.

Cold weather limits spring clothing sales.

On the contrary, retail sales were relatively high last year.

According to the University of Michigan's index, consumer confidence has dropped to a 26 year low this month.

Last week, some experts said that the growth of US consumer spending should be the weakest growth in 17 years.
